This year I went to the Las Vegas 2009 Consumer Electronics Show or CES. This is the largest tradeshow for electronic manufacturers in the whole world. One of the exhibitors which I found was a Japanese company called Family Inada. Family Inada was displaying the Dream Wave Sogno. The Dream Wave Sogno was the winner of the 2009 CES innovation award. The Sogno is a very advanced chair with some very innovative features.

The Dream Wave comes with an advanced air massage system. This massage chair is loaded with air bags. In addition to the normal assortment for the legs and buttocks, the Sogno comes with air bags for the arms and the neck area. I thought the arm massage was a bit weak for my personal taste. I did, however, really like the air bags for the neck area. This chair was effective for relieving my stress in the neck region.

The Sogno has an advanced seat that actually rocks in place. The seat will pivot and provide ergonomic support of your back and buttocks. This was a relaxing position for the spine. The look of the Sogno is a little egg-shaped in design which may limit where it can be placed. It was also priced at $6,000 making it a very high end chair.

Another impressive high end massage chair is produced by Fuji Medical. The Fujiiryoki recliner provides a full body massage and a shoulder press. The shoulder press is firm and provides great relief from the sides of the body during the massage therapy. The Fujiiryoki has an FDA device listing and was touted as a medical chair. This advanced therapeutic massage recliner retails for $10,000.

The massage techniques are very invigorating and relieving. The combination of good massage to the back with the rotation of air compression from the feet, calves, shoulders and seat provides for a thorough massage experience. The design of the chair is modern with black and silver colors.

I was able to try the Montage Premier by Omega Massage. This is the high end Omega chair which has full body massage capabilities. The Omega Montage Premier was the only chair with heat therapy and also a music player. The massage capabilities were stronger than both the Sogno and the Fujiroiki chairs.

Omega has put together a fuller massage experience with its Montage Premier. A tradeshow is the toughest environment to try massage chairs because of all the action going on. The Montage Premier let me tune out the show with their built in MP3 player and headphones. I closed my eyes drifted off as the music carried me away and the Montage Premier worked is soothing massage therapy. I activated the full body heaters and the traction system to stretch my lower body. This was certainly an excellent test to relaxation. The Montage Premier passed with flying colors as I felt fully relieved. Even the $4,500 price tag was more relieving than the others I tried.

There were many massage chair companies spread throughout the CES show. I quickly learned that there were manufacturers and there are importers. I stayed clear from the importers as they seemed to be interested in a quick sale. The manufacturers are the ones that have staying power and will be there to support your warranty down the road.

If you ever go to a show to check out shows, you want to make sure that a company you buy a massage chair from will be there down the road. There are some companies that have great deals one year and then never come back to the show. Of course, there are new companies but you need to have the confidence that they will be there to take care of any warranty issues you might have.

We can only associate zero gravity with pictures we see of astronauts floating. We see them spray in the air and it just continues in the same direction. There doesn’t seem to be any direction up or down.

Okay, we are all familiar now with the concept of zero gravity. So how do we go next to a zero gravity chair? The first zero gravity chair was coined by NASA. This was a solution to help the astronauts better with stand the forces of a rocket takeoff. The rocket must have enough force to get beyond the gravity of the earth. The astronauts must be able to withstand the multiplied forces of gravity.

Astronaut must undergo the polling of many g’s to get beyond the gravitational pull of the Earth. The takeoff is vital. Minimizing the impact on the astronaut is key to mission success. It was found that reclining fully with the astronaut looking straight up into space toward the top of the rocket was the best position. Since astronauts pulled many forces of gravity when taking off, this position was termed zero gravity.

The zero gravity position was an important solution for space travelers. The initial force from takeoff is tremendous and puts substantial force on the body. The fully reclined position with the astronauts back parallel to the earth’s surface minimized the stresses of takeoff.

The key to the success of the zero gravity position was that it better distributed the forces of takeoff across the astronauts body. Other positions found that these forces could concentrate leading to potential problems. It is important that blood flow continues normal and does not get bogged down by a concentration of force.

Panasonic has introduced a new series of massage chairs. This new series is called the Real Pro Ultra. There last series was the Real Pro Elite. The first of this series is the EP 30003 massage chair. This review will look at some of the features and discuss the warranty coverage of this chair. This chair is a mid range model in the $2,000 to $3,000 price range.

Although warranty coverage is not as exciting as the features of the chair, it is important for you as a consumer. The warranty coverage should reduce the risk you are taking in the purchase of a given product. The warranty is to protect you from defects in workmanship of the product. The EP-30003 comes with 3 years on the parts and 1 year labor. Panasonic will cover the shipping for the first year. Panasonic has finally started to offer in home technician service for its massage chairs. Prior to this one had to take their chair to an authorized service center. An extended warranty is at extra cost, but is recommended, since this is a big ticket item.

Technology is advancing at a breathtaking pace. The amount of features being added to massage chairs is nothing short of extraordinary. You are free to use the manual massage techniques. These manual massage techniques are Junetsu, Shiatsu, Swedish, Knead, Stretch, Tap and Full Roll. You can also select specific back courses to target your back. You can select the whole back, upper or lower back. This focuses the massage in that particular area. There is a built in air massage system which targets the feet and calves in the leg rest.

The Real Pro Ultra is the new series of massage chairs by Panasonic. The EP-30003 is the entry level lounger at the mid range price level. We like the Junetsu massage techniques for its deep penetration capability. This is a great innovation included in this chair. The aesthetic design of this chair is its only major issue with us.
